In Melbourne when you drive, there are ‘Toll Ways’, where you have to pay charges for using that road. You may choose to use a non toll way, but that may be slower. When a driver drives through such toll ways, the laser guns automatically detect the vehicle registration number, identifies if the vehicle is registered to travel that toll way. If registered it automatically deducts the balance of money that vehicle has with the Toll way company, each time the vehicle goes through.
If the vehicle is NOT registered for travelling through the toll way, within 3 days or 30 days of travel, the Toll way company, expects the driver or owner of the vehicle to pay for that travel alone.
Once the money is paid for the travel, the laser guns reconcile the payment.
